Belize Investment Portfolio Campaign to fast-track investment in Belize


The Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), is pleased to announce the official launch the Belize Investment Portfolio Campaign on Friday, 25th November at the Radisson Fort George Hotel.

BELTRAIDE is able to present this historic campaign in support by its line ministry, the Ministry of Economic Development, Petroleum, Investment, Trade and Commerce, as well by ConnectAmericas, of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies, (CAIPA).

The countrywide campaign is expected to foster the development of a national portfolio to fast-track investment generation efforts, both local and foreign, through targeted matchmaking of pre-packaged investment concepts and projects.

Through the advancement of the campaign, BELTRAIDE, through its technical unit BelizeINVEST, mandated to serve as Belize’s National Investment Promotion Agency (IPA), expects to further substantiate selected investment concepts submitted by key public sector Government Ministries and stakeholders into actionable business cases aligned with national development priorities.

Additionally, the campaign strives to support qualified private sector investment projects seeking financing and / or investment partners by promoting and matchmaking these “shovel ready” business opportunities through various platforms regionally, inclusive of ConnectAmericas and CAIPA, key supporters and collaborators of this initiative in Belize.

 

The official launch of the Belize Investment Portfolio Campaign will be held on Friday, November 25th, 2016 at the Cahal Pech Room, Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina, Belize City commencing at 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. The Ministry of Economic Development, Petroleum, Investment, Trade and Commerce, through the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) in collaboration with Connect Americas and the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA), is launching the Belize Investment Portfolio Campaign. Accordingly, a public sector focal point sensitization session was held on November 2nd, 2016 at the Central Information Technology Office (CITO) Training Room  in presenting the e-Portal developed to capture investment concepts to advance the investment generation endeavor. There were over fifteen (15) representatives crossing Government Ministries and Departments.

BELTRAIDE makes presentation at National Women’s Forum hosted by Women’s Department


On May 19th 2016,  Ms. Lejia Melanie Gideon, General Manager, Enterprise and Innovation Division, Beltraide,   presented to a roomful of women from all over the country on the  role of the Small Business  Development Centre (SBDCBelize), Beltraide, in  creating economic prosperity through entrepreneurial development, business innovation and competitiveness.

Ms. Gideon shared an inspiring analogy, describing the process of opening a business to being similar to that of childbirth. She shared that in the same way an expecting mother awaits the birth of her child with eager anticipation and most times,worry, a new business owner worries over the success of his or her business. She explained that just as how family and friends offer guidance with  the care of the new child, Business Advisors at SBDCBelize  assist  business owners to nurture and grow their businesses.

In her presentation, Ms Gideon encouraged the women to explore their potential to become entrepreneurs by becoming a client of SBDCBelize and partaking in their free business advising sessions and year-long workshops offered currently in all districts.   She also shared information on the work of the Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), another unit of Beltraide, which provides  various industry-specific job preparedness trainings in areas such as: Business Process Out-Sourcing (BPO), Front Desk, Bartending, Waitstaff, Basics of Care-Giving and more.

She encouraged all women to take advantage of the opportunities offered to them by Beltraide and asked those interested to visit the offices or send an email guaranteeing that every query will be answered.

Beltraide, which operates within the portfolio of the Ministry of Economic Development, Petroleum, Investment, Trade and Commerce, aims to  enable a dynamic business environment  for Belize’s socio-economic growth  and looks forwards to an ongoing partnership with the Women’s Department which continues to encourage the economic development and empowerment of women through various programmes and projects.

The forum was an all day event and included other presentations from representatives of Credit Unions, the Cooperative Department, the Belize Enterprise for Sustainable Technology and many others.

 

 

Three Regional Firms Win investor of the Year Awards

Belize City, Belize November 22, 2013. The inaugural Regional Investor of the Year Award was held at the Radisson Fort George Hotel & Marina before a host of invited guests, including members of the private sector from Belize.  The event, part of the 4th Annual General Assembly of the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA), was held in recognition of the contribution of foreign and local investors to the Caribbean.  Receiving the award for Foreign Investor of the Year was Qualfon Guyana Inc., a business process outsourcing and call center service provider based in Georgetown, Guyana.  Vice President of Marketing and Product Management Brian Kearney accepted the award on behalf of Qualfon.  The values-driven company, he said, is not just about business but also about a passion for improving the lives of people in the communities they serve.
