BTEC, BELTRAIDE completes Soft Skills and Customer Service Training with Mahogany Bay Village


On Friday, November 9th 2018, The Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), a unit of BELTRAIDE completed a 2 week training for the staff  of Mahogany Bay Village in San Pedro. The training encompassed a week of soft skills which covered professionalism, work ethic, communication skills and one week of customer service which focused on handling customer complaints , telephone etiquette and more!

BELTRAIDE and Compete Caribbean hosts National Cluster Workshop


BELTRAIDE, through its technical unit, EXPORTBelize  hosted a“National Cluster Workshop”   as part of the “Building Institutional Capacity for Strengthening Business Clusters” project implemented through financial support from Compete Caribbean.

The National Workshop, held on February 16th 2018 in Belize City, aimed to provide participants with insight into Compete Caribbean initiatives with the purpose of encouraging collaborative actions to improve the competitiveness of a sector or industry as well as to promote cross-sectoral linkages.  The workshop sought to provide a  framework to facilitating business clusters in Belize, consolidate the mapping of Business Support Organizations (BSOs), identify and assess potential and existing clusters and leverage resources of other BSO’s for cluster promotion.

Belize Investment Portfolio Campaign Public Sector Sensitization Session


The Ministry of Economic Development, Petroleum, Investment, Trade and Commerce, through the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) in collaboration with Connect Americas and the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA), is launching the Belize Investment Portfolio Campaign. The campaign is expected to foster the development of a national portfolio to fast-track investment generation efforts, both local and foreign, through targeted matchmaking of pre-packaged investment concepts and projects.

Through the advancement of this campaign, BelizeINVEST, a unit of BELTRAIDE, mandated to serve as Belize’s National Investment Promotion Agency (IPA), expects to further substantiate investment concepts submitted by key public sector Government Ministries and stakeholders into actionable business cases aligned with national development priorities.

Accordingly, a public sector focal point sensitization session was held on November 2nd, 2016 at the Central Information Technology Office (CITO) Training Room  in presenting the e-Portal developed to capture investment concepts to advance the investment generation endeavor. There were over fifteen (15) representatives crossing Government Ministries and Departments.

 

The official launch of the Belize Investment Portfolio Campaign will be held on November 25th, 2016 at the Cahal Pech Room of  Radisson Fort George, Hotel and Marina commencing at 9:00 am.

BELTRAIDE HANDS OVER NEW BUILDING TO UB


The Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) , officially handed over a new security and maintenance facility to the University of Belize (U.B.).

Hon. Tracy Taegar-Panton, Minister of State in the Ministry of Economic Development, Petroleum, Investment, Trade and Commerce with responsibility for BELTRAIDE, handed over the keys to the new building to Mr. Alan Slusher, President of the University of Belize  during a brief ceremony held this morning at the U.B.’s Faculty of Management and Social Sciences Campus in Belize City.

The L-Shaped building is approximately 2,000 sq. ft. and was built on a 36” x 14” reinforced concrete strip footing raised 24” above grade level with 6” reinforced core filled blocks. The walls comprise of 2” x 4” timber-frame cladded on the outside with construction latte paper and ¾” timber resembling plycem known  as cempestre plycem.  The inner walls are also timber-frame cladded with ½”drywall. The same applies for the ceiling. The roof comprise mainly of 2”x 6” rafters secured with hurricane clips and straps and cladded with red galvalume roofing.

The building is comprised of two sections – one for the U.B. Security Staff and the other for the U.B. Maintenance Department.  Each section comprises of an open office space, a private office and restrooms for each area.  The building is valued at approximately $60,000 Belize dollars and was built by Contractor Sergio Luna.

The facility is a part of a development agreement between BELTRAIDE and the University of Belize that was signed on September 17th, 2015 which entails the construction of the Belize Enterprise and Innovation Institute (BEI2), which will be located on the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences U.B. Belize City Campus. BEI2 will house two of BELTRAIDE’s technical units: SBDCBelize and EXPORTBelize and is designed to nurture entrepreneurship and innovation and strengthen Belize’s enterprise competitiveness.

The University of Belize and BELTRAIDE continues to foster a very productive and mutually beneficial relationship for the development of Belize!
