BELTRAIDE meets with representatives from The State of Qatar to discuss new avenues for investment in Belize


Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), represented by our Executive Director, Dr. Leroy Almendarez, met with Ms. Margaret Juan, Chargé d’affaires at the Embassy of Belize in El Salvador, Ms. Jenny G Iglesias Zablah and Sr. Tariq Othman Fakhroo, officials from The State of Qatar today to discuss the exploration of new investment avenues in Belize.

This meeting sought to identify key areas of business interest in Belize that would generate the most investment and also discussed the plan to have two investment missions between Belize and Qatar to propel this initiative.

BELTRAIDE continues to enhance Belize’s prosperity by fostering investor confidence, entrepreneurship,  business growth and innovation by enabling a dynamic and competitive business environment for Belize’s Socio-economic development.

BTEC successfully completes another round of Job Preparedness Trainings


The Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), a unit of the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), has successfully completed its Waitstaff, Housekeeping and Bartending Trainings which provided participants with  the necessary skills to equip them for employment in the hospitality industry.

These three-week trainings, which ran from October 29th– November 16th,  were held simultaneously and covered soft skills, customer service as well as industry specific technical skills where trainees were taught the essentials of perfecting their trade. The Waitstaff training was facilitated completely by BTEC’s staff while the Housekeeping and Bartending Trainings were executed in partnership with Happy Maids Cleaning Service and the Belize Bartender’s Association (BBA) respectively.

To celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of the forty-four successful participants, the Belize Training and Employment Centre held a certificate ceremony on November 21st 2018.

 

BTEC, and in extension, BELTRAIDE, continues to remain at the forefront of the dynamic market demands while fulfilling its purpose to reduce the barriers to gainful employment and remain committed to developing  and sustaining Belize’s quality workforce.

BTEC, BELTRAIDE completes Soft Skills and Customer Service Training with Mahogany Bay Village


On Friday, November 9th 2018, The Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), a unit of BELTRAIDE completed a 2 week training for the staff  of Mahogany Bay Village in San Pedro. The training encompassed a week of soft skills which covered professionalism, work ethic, communication skills and one week of customer service which focused on handling customer complaints , telephone etiquette and more!

BTEC successfully completes its first Childcare Training


The Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), a unit of BELTRAIDE successfully completed its first ever Childcare Training. This training aimed to equip participants with necessary soft and technical skills needed to become excellent childcare providers.

BELTRAIDE and Compete Caribbean hosts National Cluster Workshop


BELTRAIDE, through its technical unit, EXPORTBelize  hosted a“National Cluster Workshop”   as part of the “Building Institutional Capacity for Strengthening Business Clusters” project implemented through financial support from Compete Caribbean.

The National Workshop, held on February 16th 2018 in Belize City, aimed to provide participants with insight into Compete Caribbean initiatives with the purpose of encouraging collaborative actions to improve the competitiveness of a sector or industry as well as to promote cross-sectoral linkages.  The workshop sought to provide a  framework to facilitating business clusters in Belize, consolidate the mapping of Business Support Organizations (BSOs), identify and assess potential and existing clusters and leverage resources of other BSO’s for cluster promotion.
