BTEC, BELTRAIDE Certifies 17 persons in The Basics of Caregiving


The Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), a unit of BELTRAIDE , in partnership with the National Council on Ageing, has successfully completed its final Job Preparedness Training for 2019!

Today, seventeen persons have been certified in Basics of Caregiving after completing a 5-week training programme. The training covered First-aid and CPR facilitated by the Belize Emergency Response Team (BERT); the basics of elderly care; caring for persons with Dementia and Alzheimer’s and a host of other topics facilitated by Dr. Ajay Hochandani, Nurse Kelsey Dawson and Chandra Ake as well as a 2-week internship at the Sister Cecelia’s Home for the Elderly.

Beyond learning the technical skills necessary for work in the caregiving field, the first week of this training comprised of soft skills preparation in topics such as Work Ethic, Communication Skills, Time Management and Customer Service in addition to an overview of Belize’s Labour Laws facilitated by the Labour Department and Substance Abuse in the Workplace facilitated by the National Drug Abuse Control Council (NDACC). The soft-skills and technical component of the training aimed to equip participants with the tools to become successful professionals in the caregiving field.

BELTRAIDE, through its technical unit, BTEC remains committed to developing a cadre of well-trained individuals who can successfully compete in the workforce.

The Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), a unit of BELTRAIDE successfully completed its first ever Childcare Training. This training aimed to equip participants with necessary soft and technical skills needed to become excellent childcare providers.

BELTRAIDE and Compete Caribbean hosts National Cluster Workshop


BELTRAIDE, through its technical unit, EXPORTBelize  hosted a“National Cluster Workshop”   as part of the “Building Institutional Capacity for Strengthening Business Clusters” project implemented through financial support from Compete Caribbean.

The National Workshop, held on February 16th 2018 in Belize City, aimed to provide participants with insight into Compete Caribbean initiatives with the purpose of encouraging collaborative actions to improve the competitiveness of a sector or industry as well as to promote cross-sectoral linkages.  The workshop sought to provide a  framework to facilitating business clusters in Belize, consolidate the mapping of Business Support Organizations (BSOs), identify and assess potential and existing clusters and leverage resources of other BSO’s for cluster promotion.

BELTRAIDE TALENT FAIR 2017


Through its technical units of BelizeINVEST and the Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), BELTRAIDE is pleased to announce its first ever Talent Fair 2017 to be held at the BTEC Enterprise Room on the ITVET Compound on Freetown Road in Belize City on August 17, 18 and 19, 2017 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The aim of the Talent Fair is to enable potential employees to join BELTRAIDE’s employment database through a brief registration in an effort to better match talent capacity with potential existing and future investments in Belize.

Attendees can include anyone sixteen (16) years of age or older with basic computer skills within a 60 minutes commuting distance to Belize City. Bi-lingual capabilities in English and Spanish is also a plus. Recent or upcoming secondary (High School) and tertiary (Junior College / University) level graduates are also welcome to attend in joining the database for potential employment matchmaking.

Participants are requested to bring along an identification card and a copy of their resume. Should assistance be required on participants’ resumes, BELTRAIDE’s offices can be contacted for support prior to the Fair at BTEC on the ITVET Campus in Belize City or at 14 Orchid Garden St. in Belmopan.

BELTRAIDE and the Belize City Council Sign Memorandum of Cooperation


BELTRAIDE, the nation’s leading business advising and entrepreneurial support entity, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the Belize City Council on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Belize Training and Employment Centre in Belize City.

The aim of this Cooperation is to enhance and diversify economic activity in the municipality through a closer collaboration between BELTRAIDE and the City Council by providing efficient and seamless business development services to entrepreneurs and to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) located in their respective jurisdiction.

BELTRAIDE’s Small Business Development Centre Belize (SBDCBelize) and Belize City Council’s Local Economic Development (LED) Unit will be the two respective units to carry out the work plan laid out under the MOC. The town’s Business Support Help Desk will work hand-in-hand with SBDCBelize to support local entrepreneurs and MSMEs by offering business guidance and development trainings. SBDCBelize will also provide mentorship and coaching to the Business Support Officer to ensure that local business community receives the best possible business development support.
