The Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), a unit of the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), today, completes its Wait Staff and Housekeeping and Janitorial Services Trainings which provided participants with skills to equip them for employment in the hospitality industry.
These three-week trainings were held simultaneously and covered soft skills, customer service as well as industry specific technical skills where trainees were taught the essentials of perfecting their trade.
Today, BTEC held a certificate ceremony to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of the forty six successful participants.
BTEC, and in extension, BELTRAIDE, continues to remain at the forefront of the dynamic market demands while fulfilling its purpose to reduce the barriers to gainful employment and remain committed to develop and sustain Belize’s quality workforce.
On Monday, October 23rd, 2017, The Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) and The Organization of American States (OAS) launched The Global Value Chain Workshop.
This four-day workshop is designed to support the initiative, “Small Business Development Center Model” led by OAS. It aims to provide participants with insights into how to develop effective policies to increase Caribbean countries’ competitiveness in these chains at the local, regional and global levels. The Belize Training and Employment Centre, in collaboration with the Mental Health Association of Belize and in partnership with the National Board of Certified Counselors – International (NBCC- I) held a two day Mental Health Facilitator Training. The training had participants from a wide cross-section of agencies both public and private.
The Mental Health Facilitator training is designed to improve access to mental health care in a given community by educating and training community members from diverse back-grounds. The training was geared towards increasing awareness to some of the issues of mental health and providing front-line persons with resources that will allow them to offer assistance in the initial stages before referral to a trained counselor.
The training was facilitated by Master Trainer Dr Shirlene Smith-Augustine an Associate Professor and Coordinator for Recruitment & Admissions in the Department of Counseling at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University.
The Belize Training and Employment Centre ( BTEC) , a unit of Beltraide , held a certificate ceremony for its Basics of Care-giving Training on April 28th at the George Price Centre for Peace and Development in Belmopan.
This five week training sought to prepare participants to work for and on behalf of the elderly.
The training included soft skills such as professionalism, work ethic, resume building and interview preparation; technical skills, First-Aid and CPR provided by the Belize Emergency Response Team (BERT) as well as an internship at the Sister Cecilia’s Home for the Elderly in Belize City.
This training was done in partnership with the National Council on Ageing and made possible through financial support from the Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust. Beltraide expresses a special thank you to all who made this initiative possible
