Rebecca Stirm represents Belize at SICA Achievement Expo in El Salvador


The Central American Integration System (SICA) held  an Achievement Expo  in El Salvador where they reported on the several successful projects made possible through funding from the Republic of China, Taiwan .  Among those achievements was the EMPRENDE Fund where  owners of small business in Central America were given seed capital to develop, improve or expand their business. Recipients of the seed capital  displayed their products to Tsai Ing-wen , president of Taiwan.Representing Belize was Rebecca Stirm, fashion designer and owner of Rebecca Stirm Clothing.

BELTRAIDE SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION WITH SAN PEDRO TOWN COUNCIL


 

A Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) was signed on Friday, 21st October 2016 between the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) and the San Pedro Town Council.

The purpose of the MOC was to formalize the collaboration between BELTRAIDE through its Small Business Development Centre, Belize (SBDCBelize) and the Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC) with the  San Pedro Town Council in order to promote the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME’s), job preparedness and professional development trainings in Ambergris Caye.

Under the MOC, the San Pedro Town Council will facilitate BELTRAIDE in special projects and or initiatives that are closely related to enterprise development, such as funding for example, seed capital initiatives, advising for start-ups and providing advice to established businesses among many others.

As part of the MOC, a Working Committee will be established which will have representation of all the relevant parties, to exchange data, information and reports, events etc.

The MOC was signed by Mr Daniel Guerrero, Mayor of San Pedro Town, on behalf of the San Pedro Town Council while Ms Lejia Melanie Gideon, General Manager, Enterprise and Innovation, signed on behalf of BELTRAIDE.

Mr. Madrid became a client of the Centre on March 2013, and since then has actively sought advice from his primary adviser in areas of financing options, product development, business plan development, investment and market research. As a result of his proactive commitment, and focused advising from his assigned advisor at the Centre, Mr. Madrid has managed to successfully source financing for the growth and improvement of his business venture.

Additionally, through the assistance of SBDCBeize, Mr. Madrid successfully participated in 2 three days trainings “Business Model by using Lean Canvas”, “Product & Market Research”, with the objective of submitting a realistic proposal to compete for seed capital under the Regional Entrepreneurship Project Entrepreneurship Project “Integral Development of Entrepreneurship in Central America and Dominican Republic”. He was one of the 18 selected from a total of 43 who submitted two PowerPoint presentations and two video pitches, including a sales pitch to an evaluation panel. He received a grant as Seed Capital, which enabled him to increase sales and gain market share.
