EXPORTBelize in collaboration with the Belize Bureau of Standards held a Stakeholder Consultation on Tuesday August 15, 2017 at BELTRAIDE’s Headquarters in Belmopan City. This consultation was aimed to review and discuss the Final Draft for the CARICOM Regional Standard on Cocoa and Chocolate Products where approval or disapproval of the standard would be commented on and submitted by Belize for further submission to CROSQ, the regional organization for standards. The session consisted of those key stakeholders within the cacao industry who the regional standard, when passed, would ultimately impact.
BELTRAIDE PROMOTES ITS SERVICES AT BCCI CHAMBER DAY
The Belize Trade and Investment Development Services (BELTRAIDE) was among the many exhibitors at Belize Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Day which was held on Friday, April 28th at the San Pedro High School in San Pedro.
The Chamber Day was an educational fair promoting the role and services of the Chamber and other key organizations and bodies such as BELTRAIDE that contribute to making business happen; from the start of opening a business to the regular operations and the continued existence of the business.
In addition, businesses showcased their services and products to further encourage emerging small business entrepreneurs in San Pedro.
BELTRAIDE took the opportunity at the event to showcase the service offered by the various units of the institution, and educated students about how these services offered assist in making business happen.
Students from the San Pedro High School who visited the BELTRAIDE booth had fun asking questions, and received a variety of promotional materials.
EXPORTBelize in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) held a “Meet and Greet” session with the different fishermen association and the Development Finance Corporation. The session included a presentation by EXPORTBelize to provide an insight on the Memorandum of Cooperation between EXPORTBelize and The Nature Conservancy. EXPORTBelize, a unit of BELTRAIDE, in collaboration with the Embassy of the United States of America facilitated a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Webinar on Friday March 17th, 2017, at the US Embassy in Belmopan. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services in the United States responsible for protecting the public health by assuring the safety of Human Drugs, Vaccines blood products, medical devices and Food. The Webinar was presented by Mr. Allan Gonzalez, International Regulatory Analyst for FDA. Participants included to government stakeholders and private sector companies. Key topics covered were:
- Jurisdiction and responsibility of the FDA
- FDA registration process
- Facility inspections and follow-ups
- Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
The aim of this session was to inform local companies on requirements to export into the US.
