The Belize Training and Employment Centre completes Hospitality Trainings in Placencia


The Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), a unit of BELTRAIDE, has successfully completed another round of Hospitality Trainings. This round was held in Placencia Village and focused on the areas of Waitstaff and Housekeeping and Janitorial Basics.

The three-week programme provided participants with the skills needed to prepare them for employment in the hospitality industry. The first week covered soft-skills such as professionalism, time-management, conflict management and communication skills while the second week focused on customer service excellence and service recovery. In the final week of training, participants were divided into their respective technical areas and were given practical assessments that emulated realistic workplace experiences.

To celebrate the accomplishments of the twenty-seven graduates, a certificate ceremony was held on March 21st 2019 at the Placencia Community Centre where fourteen participants were awarded certificates of completion in the Waitstaff Training and thirteen in the Housekeeping and Janitorial Basics Training.

BTEC ,and in extension, BELTRAIDE, remains committed to developing well-trained , marketable and self-sufficient individuals by providing industry specific and demand driven programmes that will sustain a quality workforce.

BELTRAIDE TALENT FAIR 2017


Through its technical units of BelizeINVEST and the Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), BELTRAIDE is pleased to announce its first ever Talent Fair 2017 to be held at the BTEC Enterprise Room on the ITVET Compound on Freetown Road in Belize City on August 17, 18 and 19, 2017 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The aim of the Talent Fair is to enable potential employees to join BELTRAIDE’s employment database through a brief registration in an effort to better match talent capacity with potential existing and future investments in Belize.

Attendees can include anyone sixteen (16) years of age or older with basic computer skills within a 60 minutes commuting distance to Belize City. Bi-lingual capabilities in English and Spanish is also a plus. Recent or upcoming secondary (High School) and tertiary (Junior College / University) level graduates are also welcome to attend in joining the database for potential employment matchmaking.

Participants are requested to bring along an identification card and a copy of their resume. Should assistance be required on participants’ resumes, BELTRAIDE’s offices can be contacted for support prior to the Fair at BTEC on the ITVET Campus in Belize City or at 14 Orchid Garden St. in Belmopan.

BTEC, BELTRAIDE holds Certificate Ceremony for the Basics of Caregiving


The Belize Training and Employment Centre ( BTEC) , a unit of Beltraide , held a certificate ceremony for its Basics of Care-giving Training on April 28th at the George Price Centre for Peace and Development in Belmopan.

This five week training sought to prepare participants to work for and on behalf of the elderly.

The training included soft skills such as professionalism, work ethic, resume building and interview preparation; technical skills, First-Aid  and CPR  provided by the Belize Emergency Response Team (BERT) as well as an internship at the Sister Cecilia’s Home for the Elderly in Belize City.

This training was done in partnership with the National Council on Ageing and made possible through financial support from the Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust. Beltraide expresses a special thank you to  all who made this initiative possible

Entrepreneurship Convention 2016 (EntreCon)- Unlocking ICT Innovation In Belize


 

 International speakers and experts in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), along with members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and entrepreneurs will meet at the Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel in Belize City on Friday, 18th November to participate in the second annual National Entrepreneurship Convention, (ENTRECON).

The Belize Training & Employment Centre (BTEC) Trains 60 persons in the Independence/ Placencia Area


 

The Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), a unit of BELTRAIDE, one of the leading industry specific training centers in Belize, today held a certificate ceremony at the Independence High School in Independence Village.  Sixty participants received certificates in areas of Lifeguard training; Gardening and Landscaping; Hospitality and wait staff; Introduction to Bartending and Housekeeping and Janitorial services. The training was geared towards persons who are employed or seeking employment in the various fields.

Also at the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) was  signed between BELTRAIDE and the Independence High School (IHS) . The MOC entails BELTRAIDE doing more job – preparedness training of students and out of school residents in the area, while IHS will provide classrooms for such trainings and assist with recruitment of participants in the area. Signing on behalf of IHS was principal Mr. Omar Longsworth and on behalf of BELTRAIDE was General Manager, Ms. Lejia Melanie Gideon

.The five different trainings took three weeks and were in held in both Placencia and Independence. Participants were from several different communities in the area.The gardening and landscaping class along with BELTRAIDE and the Ministry of Agriculture also handed over a garden they had prepared to the students of the Independence High School.
