In the ongoing global quest to mitigating climate change and seeking energy independence, Belize remains an active supporter joining the chorus of fostering renewable energy developments. With a history of development in Green Economy, Belize has been powered by primarily renewable sources, namely Hydro and Biomass Energy with growing opportunities in Solar Energy. An example of the benefits under renewable energy can be seen in the utility rates in Belize, which have a mean electricity rate of approximately  USD $0.17 per kilowatt-hour (kWh). Launch of INVESTBelize Magazine Volume 6


_DSC9081The Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) launched its Volume 6 of the Invest Belize Magazine, a signature piece which encapsulates business opportunities in Belize; under the theme, “Our Green Economy, Your Trade Opportunity”. In the continued quest to promoting long-term development, the Volume 6 magazine was printed on sustainably grown paper, with the intent to resonate sustainable and eco-friendly practices in the public and private sector. BTEC successfully completes another round of Job Preparedness Trainings


The Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), a unit of the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), has successfully completed its Waitstaff, Housekeeping and Bartending Trainings which provided participants with  the necessary skills to equip them for employment in the hospitality industry.

These three-week trainings, which ran from October 29th– November 16th,  were held simultaneously and covered soft skills, customer service as well as industry specific technical skills where trainees were taught the essentials of perfecting their trade. The Waitstaff training was facilitated completely by BTEC’s staff while the Housekeeping and Bartending Trainings were executed in partnership with Happy Maids Cleaning Service and the Belize Bartender’s Association (BBA) respectively.

To celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of the forty-four successful participants, the Belize Training and Employment Centre held a certificate ceremony on November 21st 2018.

 

BTEC, and in extension, BELTRAIDE, continues to remain at the forefront of the dynamic market demands while fulfilling its purpose to reduce the barriers to gainful employment and remain committed to developing  and sustaining Belize’s quality workforce.

BTEC, BELTRAIDE completes Soft Skills and Customer Service Training with Mahogany Bay Village


On Friday, November 9th 2018, The Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), a unit of BELTRAIDE completed a 2 week training for the staff  of Mahogany Bay Village in San Pedro. The training encompassed a week of soft skills which covered professionalism, work ethic, communication skills and one week of customer service which focused on handling customer complaints , telephone etiquette and more!

Belize participates in the Seminar of Investment Opportunities in the Central American region held in Taiwan

The Central American Trade Office (CATO) hosted an Investment Seminar in the cities of Taipei and Kaohsiung in Taiwan on October 28 to November 02, 2018 under the theme “Seminar of Investment Opportunities of the Central American countries for the interest of the SMEs of Taiwan and the visit of the Central American delegation in Taiwan.” BELTRAIDE, represented by Thelma Montero, Manager, Generation, BelizeINVEST showcased the Investment Opportunities in the priority industries of Tourism, Agribusiness, Fisheries & Aquaculture, Offshore Outsourcing, Sustainable Energy and Light Manufacturing & Logistics. The Central American delegation also conducted targeted investment meetings and site visits to several enterprises interested in investing in the region.
