BELTRAIDE Hosts Trade and Investment Mission with Taiwan CATO Delegates
City of Belmopan, July 14, 2022. As a part of the Government of Belize’s commitment to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Belize and Taiwan, the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) hosted a trade and investment mission meeting with a Taiwanese delegation, led by the Taiwan Central America Trade Office (CATO). The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), in Belize, organized the mission with 13 delegates from the Seafood, packaging, and recycling industries. These companies are in country to explore trade and investment opportunities and will conduct company visits across the country.
The mission meeting organized by BELTRAIDE commenced with a presentation from Mrs. Narda Garcia, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development and Investment and Chair of BELTRAIDE’s Board of Directors, H.E. David K.C. Chien, Ambassador of Taiwan to Belize and Mr. Augusto Liao, President of CATO and Head of delegation. The Mission meeting also included presentations on Belize’s Trade and Investment landscape and company presentations by members of the Taiwanese delegation.
The meeting culminated with roundtable discussions on doing business opportunities, with the hope of advancing trade and investment leads under the Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA) signed between Belize and Taiwan, in 2020. Since the signing of the ECA, the Government of Belize has been working diligently to ensure the necessary measures to strengthen the commercial and economic relations between the two countries. BELTRAIDE remains committed to supporting the process and to ensure that our private sector can realize the benefits under the ECA and other agreements.
