EXPORTBelize, a unit of BELTRAIDE, partnered with the Music Industry Association of Belize (MIAB) to launch its very first online Artist Export Toolkit. With the global music industry moving at such a rapid pace, it becomes more difficult for businesses and organizations to operate without proper planning, documentations and partnerships. The aim of this toolkit, then, is to improve business capacities of musicians/artist in Belize and provide them with relevant business-related documentations such as contracts, riders, business card development and visa application requirements in order to effectively and efficiently conduct business.

Having the documents mentioned above prevents musicians/artists from undesired outcomes between them, their manager and promoter and/or band members. An artist toolkit also enables musicians/artists to ensure that they have created a clear road map to the desired outcomes for their business relationships and demonstrates their level of professionalism and commitment to their craft.

In an effort to promote this Toolkit and share the importance of its documents to musicians/artist, Analysis and Research Officer of BELTRAIDE, Ms. Nicole Zetina, sat on Open Your Eyes and Wave Morning Show with Vice President of MIAB, Mr. James Sanker and Musician himself, Mr. Sam Harris from Sam Harris and The World Culture Band. EXPORTBelize also plans to host sensitization sessions country wide; the first two sessions were held in Belize City and San Ignacio, with plans of a third in March of this year.

In addition to the Artist Export Toolkit, EXPORTBelize has also engaged the music industry in other activities, such as: Electronic Press Kit (EPK) Development, as well as a new pilot project called “Taste of Music” which enables musicians/artists to create and update their portfolios and promotional materials into business packages to offer to Belizean hotels for job opportunities.
