An award ceremony was held on the 21st of August 2017, at 10:00 am at the Belize Training and Employment Centre (BTEC), to announce the winners of the first ever “Maya Spa Experience Brand Competition”.
The competition, which was organized by BELTRAIDE and the Belize Spa and Wellness and held on the 14th and 15th of August, aimed to have certified massage therapists collaborate with three other persons, in developing their interpretation of an authentic Maya Spa Experience to create a signature Belizean massage that can be identified in any resort both at home and abroad. The branded massage will be copyrighted and promoted extensively, with a special showcase at this year’s BCCI Expo on Sept 16 & 17 in Belize City.
Winners and Prizes
- First Place (BZ$5,000): NAIA Resort (Placencia) – U Quikuna Chel (Healing of Light or Spirit)
- Second Place (BZ$3,000): Healing Touch Day Spa (Caye Caulker) -Maximon Spa Experience
- Third Place (BZ$2,000): Noche U Wichil Baneck (Belize City)
- Consolation (BZ$1,000): Nul Maya Techniques (Belmopan) – Healing from Yields of the Forest
