EXPORTBelize in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) held a “Meet and Greet” session with the different fishermen association and the Development Finance Corporation. The session included a presentation by EXPORTBelize to provide an insight on the Memorandum of Cooperation between EXPORTBelize and The Nature Conservancy.

TNC presented on the sustainability and conservation objectives including benefits the seaweed industry can bring to our natural resources as well as the importance of financial sustainability and benefits to coastal communities. Participating fisher groups provided a brief presentation about their financial positioning as well as long and short plans in terms of Seaweed plantation.

The objective of the meet and greet session was to start the conservation of developing a financial platform with DFC to provide access to financial resources to assist with the development of the industry.
