Second training of entrepreneurs and P3Ventures


The second entrepreneurship training was held July 9th – 11th and had participation from 48 Business owners and eight consultants from BELTRAIDE, Sacred Heart Junior College and ITVET Toledo. The work-shop had a total of 70 participants and was the result of three weeks of intensive work by the entrepreneurs to conduct problem observations, problem interviews and solution interviews after which they had to developed a Video Pitch and PPT that reflected the results of their interviews and their immediate next steps. The persons at the work-shop were successful in their presentation. The consultants provided guidance and mentorship to the entrepreneurs leading up to the workshop and provided technical assistance throughout the work-shop. The entrepreneurs will now be required to conduct another series of interviews and observations and develop a work-plan and accompanying budget for their business over a six-month span. The businesses that are successful in this second Video Pitch will receive seed capital.

Renewable energy symposium in Corozal

The Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology and Public Utilities hosted a renewable energy symposium in Corozal this morning. The purpose of the session, which included participation from the public and private sector, is to get input from a wide cross-section of Belizean stakeholders.  According to the minister of Energy, Joy Grant, that input will form the basis for working sessions on how to make cheaper sources of energy a reality, sooner rather than later. Joint Agenda for Tourism Development at the Border Zone Belize-Guatemala

Under our Inclusive Linkage in Central America and Dominican Republic Project, a joint agenda for Tourism Development at the Border zone Belize-Guatemala was recently formulated after intense consultations with public and private stakeholders from Belize and Guatemala.   The purpose of the joint agenda is to promote the tourism development in the border zone which includes San Antonio, San Ignacio/Santa Elena, San Jose Succotz, Benque Viejo, Melchor de Mencos and Flores Peten through capacity building and the establishment of strategic alliances among stakeholders to generate sustainable development at the border zone. Words from the wise: Dream big and you too shall succeed.


“Most people in Belize recognize the need for more entrepreneurship in the country…..especially since unemployment and poverty have reached such high levels.

Many have chastised the education system….claiming that it focuses more on preparing student to find jobs….instead of becoming self-employed….and creating jobs for others.

In my mind….entrepreneurship has two components (1) the ability to identify a potential benefit from taking a potential risk, and to calculate whether the gain is bigger than the risk (2) the ability to convert thoughts into actions….to do things with a degree of self-confidence and self-esteem, to the satisfaction of self and others.
