EXPO-CIBAO 2013, Santiago, Dominican Republic, September 10-15th, 2013

Background

EXPO-CIBAO is a general trade show event with a special focus on agroindustry. This event is organized by the Santiago Chamber of Commerce and Production in the Dominican Republic, and this year it is celebrating its 26th consecutive edition. The theme for this year is “For the Integration and development of the Region”, and on this basis a week full of activities, including business conferences, seminars, exhibitions, trade in goods, cultural and educational activities has been planned. The show will take place in Santiago, Dominican Republic from September 10-15th, 2013.

Caribbean Export’s intervention in EXPO-CIBAO 2013 will focus on creating business opportunities within CARIFORUM member states and other regions in order to promote the sectors that are readily positioned to do business within global context. At the same time, the Agency seeks to provide the necessary discussion platform to take on specific trade-related issues that affect regional trade.

Proposal for Assistance

Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export), under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF) Regional Private Sector Development Programme (RPSDP) will be covering accommodation costs and participation fee pertaining to the conferences and Business to Business (B2B) Meetings for the selected group of CARIFORUM and EU Private Sector companies,  buyers/importers to participate in EXPO-CIBAO 2013.  The objective of these meetings is to foster a business-conducive platform that leads to materialization of business opportunities between the stakeholder firms in the agro-industrial/processing sector and construction. These meeting will unfold within a Business Forum that will be comprised of conferences and seminar that deal with specific issues regarding trade and competitiveness.

CARIFORUM and EU firms that want and are able to participate in the forum and or B2B meetings must operate in one of the following sectors:

  1. Agro-Business, Agro-Processing
  2.  Construction,
  3. Importers/Distributors (Supermarkets, Distribution Centres, Foodstuff Warehouses)

Interested companies must complete the attached Expression of Interest form and submit all required documentation to Caribbean Export. Submissions must be addressed to:

Expressions of interests must be submitted no later than July 31st , 2013.

Interested participants are also required to provide additional documentation with the Expression of Interest Form as follows:

– A company profile not exceeding two hundred (200) words
– Completed Application form

Criteria

Firms must

– Be a Registered Company  or Business Name in CARICOM and/or the European Union
– Be in operation for at least two years
– Demonstrate business growth and profitability
– Have sufficient financial and human resources to secure and maintain export orders (for exporters)
– Comply with relevant international standards (if applicable)

Please note that for this event, Caribbean Export will only cover Accommodations costs and Participation Fee pertaining to the conferences and B2B meetings.
