As part of our commitment to support MSME development, BELTRAIDE, with support from the Regional Center for the Promotion of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises in Central America (CENPROMYPE) executed a workshop on Export Marketing Plans on February 13th -15th 2012. The Central American Economic Integration Secretariat (SIECA) and the Government of Spain also contributed coordination and funding to this effort.
The objective of this workshop was to build the capacity of participants who will provide assistance to selected MSMEs. These MSMEs are expected to develop export business plans to Central America & the Dominican Republic. This is to take advantage of the opportunities in these markets.
The key points in developing an export business plan were defined as:
- Conducting an analysis of the company’s current situation. This involves asking questions about the entrepreneur, the product, the markets, the collaborators and business model. The resources and organizational structure are also taken into account in this initial stage.
- In the second stage, the export plan is actually addressed. The Export Business Plan deals with the export product or service and well as market analysis and planning.
The facilitator for this three day workshop was Dr. Miguel Angel Rivas. If you need further information, please contact the Business & Investment Facilitation Unit at beltraide@belizeinvest.org.bz or at 822-0175.
