BELTRAIDE collaborates with Micro Enterprises from the Tourism Industry at the National Agriculture Trade Show (NATS 2012) April 26th, 2012 –

The Belize Trade & Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) hosted a capacity building workshop entitled “Current & Effective Marketing Strategies” for small Bed & Breakfasts, Guest houses, & Lodges on March 21st 2012 at The Lodge at Chaa Creek located in Cayo District. The main objectives of the workshop were:

Final Draft- National Policy and Strategy for Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (MSMEs)


The Belize Trade & Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) would like to extend a sincere thank you to the stakeholders, who attended the Final National Symposium, in which Dr. Michael Seepersaud presented the final draft of the MSME Policy and Strategy for Belize.

The Final National MSME Symposium was held on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Belize Biltmore Hotel.  The definitional framework, polices, strategies and the MSME Development Act was presented. The aim of the symposium was to validate the MSME Policy and Strategy recommended by the Consultant. Participants from the private and public sector shared their views, perceptions and feedback, through their participation, in the Final National Symposium.

The MSME Policy addresses the following strategic issues; definitions of enterprises (Micro, Small, Medium); legislative policy; increasing the flow of capital; market access and competiveness; education and training; and institutional framework and support services.

The next step is to present the MSME Development Act to the Government of Belize for approval. BELTRAIDE will follow in the implementation of the MSME policy and strategy.

Village Arts & Craft Expo 2012

 The Village Arts & Craft Expo 2012 is a major initiative to showcase small producers of arts and crafts by our village communities.

The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) is seeking participants for the village Arts & Craft Expo 2012. The Expo will draw all small producers to one location where they can exhibit their products to a variety of buyers and open a new and direct way of marketing to various channels. They will be accepting 10 – 13 participants from each district.

The show will be held at the Princess Hotel & Casino on May 12th 2012 from 9am to 4pm.Application deadline is May 5th 2012.

External grants programme is now open and inviting applications.

 Eligibility Criteria: Criteria for projects – projects must meet all criteria below:

Expo Tabasco 2012

The EXPO Tabasco 2012, “Vive el Eden” will take place from 27th to 29th of April 2012 in Villahermosa, Tabasco. Is an ideal medium for a festive, it promotes tourism in the region as a destination that offers adventure, culture and tradition.

The objectives of the Expo are to:

Caribbean Export Development Agency – Direct Assistance Grant Scheme

Capacity Building for developing Export Business Plans.

As part of our commitment to support MSME development, BELTRAIDE, with support from the Regional Center for the Promotion of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises in Central America (CENPROMYPE) executed a workshop on Export Marketing Plans on February 13th -15th 2012. The Central American Economic Integration Secretariat (SIECA) and the Government of  Spain  also contributed coordination and funding to this effort.

Capacity Building for SMEs

Beltraide in collaboration with the Belize Tourism Board hosted a workshop entitled “ Current & Effective Marketing Strategies for Bed & Breakfast, Guest Houses, and Inns” aimed at  enhancing  the Tourism industry.   The workshop was held on March 21st at The Lodge at Chaa Creek located in San Ignacio. Beltraide understands the importance of adopting new marketing strategies that will assist in the local and international marketability of their businesses.
