It is estimated that MSMEs account for over 70% of main export crops and an even higher percentage of domestic food crops.  It is within this spectrum that the Government of Belize has strengthened its focus on supporting the development of the MSME Sector.

The provision of long term one-on-one assistance to SBDC clients is of priority to us.   You can receive assistance from a counselor at any point in your business operation.  The technical trainings and advisory services provide YOU, our valued SBDC client, with technical information at workshops, and ensured implementation through personal follow up advice from a counselor to answer any questions.

Export Guide Launch On “How to Export To Central America and Dominican Republic”


As a result of the Market Access Regional Program, implemented through the Regional Centre for the Promotion of Micro and Small Enterprises in Central America and the Dominican Republic (CENPROMYPE) and the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), the toolkit “Exporting to Central America and the Dominican Republic” will be launched on November 6th, 2012 from 8:30am – 12:00pm, at Radisson Fort George Hotel & Marina. This program is funded by SICA Spain through the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID).

This initiative seeks to promote regional trade as an opportunity to promote economic development so that the market is consolidated as a promotional space, to increase interdependence and opportunities for stakeholders in the region, including, governments, businesses and workers.

The recent signing of the Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union generates a lot of expectations, enhancing the opportunity to finalize negotiations, leading to the establishment of the Customs Union for the region. (more…)

SBDCBelize- Its Here, Its Real, and Its Opened to the General Public!


Do you have the idea of starting  your own business? Or are you an established business that simply needs ideas on how you can improve?

At approximately 8:00a.m., this Thursday morning, all the buzzing stopped and the work began, when Belize’s First Small Business Development Center(SBDCBelize) opened to serve the general public.

The center will administer customized needs- based services to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, in order to facilitate their competitiveness and export readiness.

SBDCBelize will provide advisory services and training on:

  • How to start a business
  • How to develop a business plan
  • Getting access to finances, and managing finances effectively
  • Engaging in marketing and sales
  • Managing human resources
